Summer is here!
It’s been a tough year for many of us and as we put it all behind us we can slowly rejoice! With Vaccinations going out and restrictions loosening, a slow but sure return to a level of "normalcy" seems to be underway.
To celebrate the first day of Summer, Woodhaven BID took part in Make Music NY, where musicians partake in a citywide festival providing free outdoor concerts to NYC communities. This year there were 147 locations across the 5 boroughs with over 250 musicians performing! Make Music Woodhaven being part of the festivities, had amazing performances from Kenneth Voison, Jay Valera and the Benny Lopez Jazz Ensemble. (Be sure to check some of the videos below!)
We didn't stop at the music, we also had members of the Woodhaven Art Circle present, showcasing their amazing artwork. We had works from Christine Barbour, Louise Naples, Deborah Camp, Jennifer Lambert Technoquilter, and Mahfuza Rahman (MSR).
We could not have asked for a more beautiful day at Forest Pkwy Plaza!
We would like to take this opportunity to give a special thank you to Community Board 9, the Woodhaven Cultural & Historical Society, the Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association, the Woodhaven Art Circle, Councilman Bob Holden, Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar, and all of our friends, family and community members who came and showed support!
