With the back to school rush in tow, the Woodhaven Business Improvement District (BID) in collaboration with Councilmen Eric Ulrich and Robert Holden organized a back to school event on Aug. 24, 2019 to celebrate the new school year. There was a huge turnout of more than 200 school-aged kids who enjoyed the live DJ-ing, eccentric face-painting, dancing, open space to run around in, and backpack giveaway in the Forest Parkway Plaza of Woodhaven, where the event was held. Backpacks were stuffed with essentials like notebooks, crayons, folders, binders, loose-leaf, rulers, sharpeners, markers, glue and much more. They were snatched up like hot cakes within mere hours!
The Woodhaven BID prioritizes arranging community driven events to bring community members together and promote business on Jamaica Avenue.
